super fun fun office guy

So my boss' boss walks past my cubical today with another director and says, "Hey, there's Fun Marc!" and keeps walking.

[pause here for a kind of Jim-looks-up-at-the-camera moment]

It could be because I provided the entertainment at today's FUN lunch*. I took some pictures of people's coffee mugs, created a game board and held a contest about it. See the board here and here. I was also featured for the comic-relief segment of our staff meeting where - get this - we reviewed evacuation procedures. That's right, miraculous Fun Marc figured out how to make everyday safety precautions a good time. Well, I am a safety captain, so no one should second guess that one.

I'm really not very funny. If I ever try, I'm probably taking unconscious tips from situation comedies circa 1980s. There is no better place to learn textbook comedic timing than from Family Ties and Growing Pains. Today's TV is too fragmented or reality based for that stuff. I digress.

Fun Marc makes me think of Fun Bobby from Friends. I mean, Really?! I'm that fun in the office, so much so that you feel like your coffee might be spiked? And now my boss' boss is plotting with me how to make the Thanksgiving potluck super jam-packed with, you guessed it.

F U N.

Now that I look at it, sometimes at work I'd rather stick to the first two letters of that sentence.

Let's just remember that Fun Bobby really wasn't fun at all. Sort of depressing, actually. But, if coffee mugs and fire drills are where it's at, then invite me to your next party.

*Our administrative assistant says that writing FUN in the Outlook invite is what makes it so.
