Ok, so Facebook has Oregon Trail. Remember that? We used to take turns with the computer pass in grade school to play it on the one computer in the learning center. The Facebook twist on the game is that you can add your friends to your wagon. A couple of people sent me invitations to be on their wagon, which I accepted. But I can't tell if there's a way for me to track my progress on their wagons.Anyway, I'm still in the beginning stages, hunting for food, buying supplies, traveling across rivers. I just clicked on one of my friends. Cabell to be exact. And this screen appears, above, that says that I am about to eat my friend.
Woah. I totally do not remember eating other people on Oregon Trail in fifth grade. Then the screen reads that she will be gone forever if I eat her, unless I re-invite her to be on my wagon again. Funny thing, I was on Cabell's wagon before and today she invited me - again - to be on her wagon. So now I really want to check my status on other people's wagons. I mean, if they're just inviting me for a cheap food source* then I'm not so sure if I should just agree every time.
*It costs nothing to invite a friend on your wagon, but it's $85 for one box of food. You do the math.

5 things that people say:
I guess if it came down to it I would eat a friend, all Donner party like. Maybe I should play the O-trail (I've been putting if off) just to see who I'll have to eat and who gets influenza and dies!
Well right now my brother's status on my wagon reads "Matt is annoyed with you." Guess what an easy solution to that could be?
If your friend actually eats you, it will show up in your newsfeed. That's how I found out about Jacob, that dirty f'ing cannibal. I would, however, like to clarify that I totally would NOT provide 150 pounds of food for your wagon, even after nearly two months of not being able to go to the gym. Furthermore, it's not even internally consistent--a BUFFALO doesn't provide 150 pounds of food in that game! Sheesh.
I have to say, though, half the fun of the original Oregon Trail was naming people in your wagon train after people you knew and then watching them die from dysentery, even if you couldn't actually eat anyone.
Maybe I need to join facebook.
Speaking of dysentery, David - I hope you get better soon.
